Galactic Rim

The Galactic Rim is one of the spiral arms of the Milky Way where humanity has began settling frontier colonies at the "furthest reaches". Some attempts have been made to explore beyond the Galactic Rim and reach the Large Magellanic Cloud and the Sagittarius Dwarf satellites, but these are fruitless efforts - some scientific vessels have been sent by private research firms and are expected to arrive within several hundred years, but these are often fruitless and symbolic efforts. Within the Galactic Rim itself, many federal dissidents take refuge and avoid the ire of the Federation, as most of the Galactic Rim itself is often in a "wild-west" atmosphere, with little to no control by Federal forces outside of the Auxiliary Services. As a result, some very bad elements have slowly built up a power structure here - including the Red Front, several Mormon colonists referring to themselves as "New Deseret", and many pirate bands. Other groups retain independence with varying degrees.
