Faxx is a highly-populated, comfortable terran planet in the Ledef system. The planet was once nicknamed "the suburbs of space," as the planet hold proximity to several important sectors but is not necessarily of strategic importance itself. The colony started independent of the federation as a result of numerous merchants and ex-civilians searching for new means in the stars.

Faxx is a colony planet with a near-perfect atmosphere and habitat, but does not have resources which makes it significantly competitive to other nearby sectors. It soon after became a manufacturing intermediary between federation sectors, exporting and importing goods to avoid federal tariffs.

Now residing under Federal rule post the bug invasion, the economy is struggling - rioting and protesting is common.

Points of Interest

The planet has nearly no natural points of interest, as the topography of the planet is relatively flat. The earth composition has traces of minerals which provide a red tinge to both the atmosphere, water and clouds.

The main capital city, "Yanda," features a large tower structure which has always housed the planetary government. During the invasion of Faxx the tower was struck by a arachnid forces and half of the tower fell and crumpled. The standing portions of the tower have been left as is, now occupied by the Federation Government, with an open top floor as a memorial to the lives lost in the bug invasion.

Federal Interest

The Federation puts much emphasis on the planet as a great place to live, despite the planet's lack of scenic or entertaining sights. It was considered to be a morale victory and a prime example of the importance of the protection offered to colony planets by theF federation.

Invasion of Fax

On April 10th, 2288, the Federation issued a severe warning to all citizens on the planet. An Arachnid invasion had begun, and an unidentified and uncurable disease spread throughout the human population. Faxx was currently quarantined until such time as Federal High Command and Research had isolated the cause of infection on the planet's surface.

The government refused to receive assistance from the Federation. However, Terran Federation High Command made an executive decision to provide immediate military reinforcement & civilian relief to the planet. An uneasy conflict followed, Operation "Gundark," where troopers on the ground had to carefully navigate removing hostile arachnid forces whilst not also agitating local civilian or military assets. Through-out the federation relief of Faxx, there was no respite or acceptance from the local population of the federation forces. Open war was never declared between the Faxx Government and the Federation, to this day even after successfully dispelling the bug invasion and curing the infection, the local inhabitants often riot against the recently installed Federal Government.

Riots and protests are not covered on Federal Network or other forms of FedeFration approved media.

Bug Infection; Federation Asset #421

An unknown infection spread through the local population on Faxx at the outset of the arachnid invasion. Classified as a Federation Asset, this biological agent, transmitted through close proximity inhalation to a live source caused rapid decay of a human host.

Over a 24 hour period, subjects would experience symptomatic traits:

-Bloodshot eyes.

-High blood pressure.

-Headaches.

-Nausea.

Beyond a 24 hour period, neural activity within the subjects brain would shift. Federal scientists noted activation of regions of the brain associated with psychic phenomenon. It is speculated, that dormant recesses of the human brain were morphed to receive that of the bug "hive mind." In the subsequent days, subjects would begin to experience hallucinations, delusions, and "voices," thought to be noise from the arachnid hive mind. Often, subjects would become agitated and hostile to other humans - yet cognitively were able to function at a normal level.

In more progressed cases, up-to days, instances were reported of infected subjects operating in a hive minded capacity.
