DeGlorian Pirate Cartel

From Starship Troopers RP

Name: deGlorian Pirate Cartel

Leader(s): Yanahad deGlorian

Motivation: deGlorian is a renowned wanted criminal who seized the chance to establish himself as overlord over a small section of space - specifically, a federal military installation embedded within a planetary asteroid belt on a system bordering the Skinnie Quarantine Zone. The only goal is money, and money is the only thing that makes his cartel function. The cartel is ran with an ironfist - without deGlorian, it would easily splinter. The cartel's main focus is raiding frontier colonies rapaciously and avariciously, taking colonists for human trafficking and sex slaves.

Description: Yanahad was born as a frontier colonist and learned the hard way that the galaxy is a dangerous place. His parents were executed by federal officials for smuggling charges. Yanahad, as a result, drifted into petty crime and only escalated from there, growing addicted to space-faring drugs and building a gang of criminals around himself from his homeplanet on the border of the Skinnie Quarantine Zone. Starting with drug sales, the gang eventually expanded their operations in federal space with raids against frontier colonies to steal luxury goods. Inevitably, this got worse and worse - Yanahad's gang targeted commercial vessels after a corrupt official sold his gang an interception array. Yanahad earned a name for himself on the frontier, slowly building his reputation for ruthlessness. Eventually, the ire of federal officials was drawn to Yanahad after a daring raid against a federal "ocean liner" with around one thousand people on it. As a result, Yanahad was a declared "public enemy number one" in many private federal circles, a bounty placed on his head for law enforcement officials. Laying low, Yanahad sheltered for ten years - until now, that is. After years of building connections with corrupt officials and people with a similar mindset, deGlorian has emerged from the frontier to reap the benefits of the turmoil. His cartel is mainly armed with civilian-class ships converted to combat vessels, but the gang also controls several outdated corvettes, and Yanahad himself is rumored to have a cruiser under his command. In terms of ground troops, there is no professionalism or standard - Yanahad's gang arm themselves with whatever they can and whatever is effective. Rather than fight with federal officials directly, Yanahad's gang is renowned for their speed of escape.

Obviously hostile, but willing to play politics during certain circumstances - very rich in terms of resources and willing to trade if the price is right, and even fight for a cause if offered enough money or resources. Or, even, pardons.
